Ceremonial beaded blouse HT: 80 CMS |
This Tagkaolo blouse of very dense abaca textile, is minutely adorned with thousands of white glass trade beads. Brass bells also adorn the edges. Such blouses were prestige items that accompanied dowries, and were considered heirlooms kept within the family. The craftsmanship of this particular blouse is almost breathtaking, with the white glass beads forming a dazzling pattern against the red abaca ground. The textile is organically-dyed with extract from the narra tree.
