These coffin pegs were used to attach the coffin lids to the main bodies of the coffins. Their weather-beaten patinas attest to exposure in damp caves and rocky crevices. The ancestor figures carved on these pegs are done in a very rudimentary style typical of the Bontoc Igorot.
